2020 has been a year that will surely remain in our collective memory for a long time. It has affected every aspect of our lives, and of course it did not leave racing unscathed either. All world cups but three were canceled (one for XCO, two for downhill), and racing started so late in the year like never before. But with change also comes opportunity - and so Kenda was presented with the chance to become an official sponsor for the final two rounds of the UCI Mountain Bike World cup in Maribor, Slovenia, and Lousa, Portugal.
This past week, we saw the first Downhill World Cup of the year, a double-header event in Maribor. The event packed a tight schedule: Track walk on Tuesday, training on Wednesday, qualification on Thursday, the first race on Friday, and another qualification and race on Saturday and Sunday. On the weekend, riders race an altered course with a couple of variations from race #1.
Kenda's own section, called "Kenda Pinner / The Streif" was on the lower part of the track and contained a particularly tricky part of the track where riders attempted to triple the naturally flowy terrain.
As for Lousa, Kenda will have its own section there, too, and we are excited what the organizers will have in stock. Lousa will also be a double header event and will be the final race of the season.
